As our company continues to grow rapidly, especially among Chinese-speaking clients, our company seeks the professional services of Sr. Case Translation Managers who will help manage the legal translation processes for our immigration cases to ensure that all required documents are translated completely and accurately from Chinese to English. As most of our associate attorneys do not read Chinese and other staff members do not have legal backgrounds and education, the Sr. Case Translation Managers are critical in ensuring that required legal documents do not lose their legal meaning and intent when they are translated. The Sr. Case Translation Managers will also review any translations performed by third parties to ensure that these translations meet our standards for high-quality legal translations.

In a quantitative breakdown, the hired individuals will be responsible for the following duties:

Manage Translation and Interpretation of Case Documents and Communications (60% of the time)

  • Oversee case translation projects (internally and with contracted translators) of client’s case documents and communications by conducting thorough reviews of translated documents to verify accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in interviews, in-takes, and meetings as an interpreter to help the firm’s attorneys and staff with meeting and communicating with Chinese-speaking clients.
  • Review translations by contracted translators and recommend necessary edits to ensure that the translated English text accurately conveys the text and legal information from the source language and vice versa.

Translation Processes Optimization (20% of the time)

  • Collaborate closely with attorneys to ensure all legal documents translated from Chinese to English comply with specific legal standards and regulations. 
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis as needed to clarify complex legal terms and concepts to ensure accurate translation and interpretation.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of translation projects to facilitate efficient communication and future reference.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in immigration laws and regulations, as well as translation technologies and methodologies, to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of our firm’s translation processes. 

Client Communication (20% of the time)

  • Coordinate document collection process with clients including preparing document checklists, analyzing documents, and preparing document packages.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients to address their inquiries, provide updates on translation progress, and ensuring client satisfaction with the quality and accuracy of our services and translation projects.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in legal studies or related field.
  • 1 year of work experience at a law firm handling immigration law matters including employment-based cases.
  • Familiarity with terminology in U.S. immigration laws.
  • Full professional proficiency in English.
  • Native or bilingual proficiency in Chinese.
  • Ability to manage projects independently.
